MPI Aloha Chapter is forming a Gala Committee to envision and execute what promises to be this year’s hottest ticket in the meeting and event industry here in Hawaii!
Those of you who have been to either or both of the past two Gala events know the fun and excitement that is part of this annual soiree! Now, as members of MPI, you have the opportunity to maximize your membership ROI and get involved in what others have called “the night of a lifetime! “
The Gala will be held in late May of 2010 and the location is under consideration at this time. Each year the Gala honors some of the current as well as “up and coming” legends of our industry here in Hawaii. There are awards for “Planner of the Year”, “Supplier of the Year” “Rising Star” and many more. Qualifications and nominations for these awards will be posted on the MPI web site later this year. The venues have been as prestigious as the Monarch Room at the Royal Hawaiian and as stunningly beautiful as the Waialae Country Club. The entertainment has ranged from aerialists to a ukulele virtuoso. The silent auction is legendary offering some of the best buys in the state on everything from oil paintings to Las Vegas get-a-ways. The food is always fantastic and the beverages, well, say no more!
Now YOU have the opportunity to shape what will be the talk of the town for this year’s MPI Aloha Chapter Gala 2010! Not sure how you want to contribute – maybe on a committee coordinating food & beverage, decor, entertainment, logistics, operations, the silent auction, sponsorship or PR.
Not sure how much of a time investment this is? Glad you asked – the Gala committee has met once in January and will meet once a month in February, March, April and twice in May. In between meetings each sub-committee will work on its portion of the event and report back at each of the monthly meetings. If your schedule is a bit tight why not volunteer to assist on the day or week of the event. As a past volunteer on both events, I can tell you that while it is over the top, the reward truly comes from being part of pulling it all together. It’s a great way to build relationships with others in the chapter and learn more about your colleagues in the industry!
